POSITION SUMMARY Under medical supervision, provides medical and pelvic examinations to assess general health and eligibility for contraception, ascertain pregnancy, and provide therapeutic assistance for infections and disorders. Offers educational and training services to staff and clients.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in department and interdisciplinary committees that influence policies related to the Advance Practice Clinician role and health‑care delivery.
- Engage in the agency quality risk management program and implement quality assurance activities under the direction of regional VP and physician leadership.
- Collaborate with other staff to meet community needs through educational efforts.
- Participate in a Collaborative Agreement with the Medical Director or another designated Physician as required by law.
- Take individual and joint responsibility for complying with organizational, quality, and governmental regulations.
- Commit to a customer‑satisfaction approach to health‑care delivery and pursue goals that improve customer relations and repeat visits.
- Perform duties per established protocols, policies, and standard practices related to ADA, HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and state procedures.
- Work effectively with volunteers, trainees, and temp agency personnel.
- Perform other educational and experience‑related duties as required.
- Assist center staff in achieving time‑efficient family‑planning visits and answer phones professionally.
- Respond appropriately to health‑center emergency procedures.
- Prepare medical incident/occurrence reports as needed.
- Travel to other work locations as necessary; own transportation with valid driver’s license, registration, and insurance required.
- Responsible for assessing, planning, and administering individualized health care consistent with PPFA and PPGNY protocols.
- Secure complete health history and conduct physical examinations with emphasis on reproductive health, including abortion care and transgender hormone therapy.
- Provide medications and contraceptive devices as needed.
- Monitor medical aspects of all services offered and serve as a resource for staff and patients.
- Perform, order, and interpret appropriate laboratory tests.
- Educate and manage patients requiring reproductive services, including fertility control, infertility, and STI treatment.
- Assess and manage gynecological conditions following PPGNY protocols.
- Ensure appropriate follow‑up on all testing/treatment, reviewing lab results and direct patient contact as needed.
- Maintain medical documentation in an EHR system in compliance with policies.
- Provide postpartum care in selected settings with pre‑service and in‑service education.
- Seek consultations from the Medical Director or designee when necessary.
- Collaborate with physicians and team members, referring patients to medical and community resources.
- Assist in training new APCs, clinical support staff, and attend agency‑sponsored staff meetings, medical in‑services, and trainings.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree and graduation from a formal, accredited Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Midwifery program plus New York State licensure.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification.
- State license as a Physician Assistant, Midwife, or Nurse Practitioner and national credentialing certification.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in nursing or related field and minimum 1‑year clinical experience.
- New graduates welcomed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Prolonged sitting, frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting/moving patients or supplies.
- Frequent computer use requiring visual acuity and hearing ability.
- Ability to walk up/down stairs and use standard office equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
