Job summary

Job Description

The Advanced SIS NDE Specialist is responsible for the technical implementation and operational support of Advanced Non‑Destructive Examination (NDE) technologies and Services. The role emphasizes advanced ultrasonic testing (UT) methods, including Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) and Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT) Corrosion Mapping.

This position requires travel to client sites, manufacturing facilities, and offshore locations to perform inspections, support project needs, and deliver exceptional technical expertise. Travel will be largely domestic with some potential for international travel.

Responsibilities
  • Perform specialized NDE inspections, including PAUT, AUT Corrosion Mapping, and other advanced ultrasonic testing methods on piping, pressure vessels, pipelines, and structural components in onshore and offshore environments.
  • Analyze, interpret, and compile inspection results to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Prepare and execute jobs, following work instructions, with specific emphasis on specialist techniques.
  • Assist and support SIS Management in day‑to‑day activities.
  • Work closely with clients to understand project requirements and deliver tailored NDE solutions.
  • Provide clear and concise technical reports and presentations of inspection findings to clients. Responsible for equipment, maintenance, and QHSE document control.
  • Continue training to receive qualifications in other conventional and advanced NDE methods and technologies.
  • Assist in training associate technicians, including in‑house and field training, mentoring, and annual assessments to ensure competency.
  • Perform advanced ultrasonic examinations of onshore pipelines, plant piping systems, offshore topside and subsea piping systems.
  • Maintain test sample logs and assess requirements for test sample acquisition.
  • Be familiar with the scope, capabilities, and limitations of the techniques and methods in which certified. Work with the SIS Technical Management team to maintain procedures, generate techniques, and manage quality control.
  • Assist the Technical Management team in business development, including updating information sheets and technical bulletins and attending workshops and trade conferences.
  • Travel to client sites, manufacturing facilities, and offshore locations, often with short notice.
  • Keep abreast of technical developments within SIS and the industry.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, paying special attention to health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSE & Q) policies.
  • Mentor and support Level I and II NDE technicians in applying advanced ultrasonic methods and technologies.
  • Ensure team compliance with best practices, client requirements, and industry standards.
  • Adapt to challenging work environments, including confined spaces, elevated areas, and adverse weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet project deadlines.
  • Commit to strict safety and quality standards.
  • Perform additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support organizational objectives.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
  • Reporting Relationship: Reports to the SIS Principal NDE Specialist.
Qualifications
  • SNT‑TC‑1A compliant classroom training in UT, PAUT.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in application of advanced ultrasonic methods.
  • Minimum certification to Level II per ASNT‑TC‑1A or CP‑189 in UT and PAUT; candidates will be required to pass related company certification exams.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must obtain:
    • Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)
    • Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET)
    • SafeGulf Training
    • Valid passport
    • Rope Access Level 1 Training and Certificate
  • Complete knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Familiar with industry standard application software and manufacturer‑specific advanced NDE technology application software.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills in the field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Compliance with company and client health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Desired
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education and experience.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of multiple industry segments, including oil & gas, power generation (nuclear and/or fossil), pipeline, new construction and in‑service; international experience is a plus.
  • SPRAT/IRATA Rope Access Certified.
  • Third‑party UT certifications such as ACCP, PCN, CSWIP, EPRI, API QUTE, etc.
  • Experience with multiple ultrasonic equipment and software platforms, specifically Zetec / Ultravision, Olympus / Tomoview; knowledge of pipeline systems and procedures is a plus.
  • SNT‑TC‑1A compliant classroom training hours in MT, PT, ET (plus).

Working Conditions
  • This position is considered both onshore and offshore work based on business needs.
  • Primarily indoors during the day and occasionally at night. Frequent work on or near moving and vibrating equipment. When outdoors, humidity often above 90 %, noise over 85 decibels, intense glare. Possible exposure to open fire, flames, sparks, airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
