Job summary

Baptist Health - Central Alabama seeks an Advanced Nursing Extern in Medical Oncology. You will provide patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assisting with nursing duties and direct patient support.

The extern will support the Nursing department with data collection, lab specimen collection, and related tasks within the scope of unlicensed personnel under supervision. Must be enrolled in a nursing program and have completed core nursing courses.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
• Must have completed Fundamentals of Nursing Care, Pharmacology, and Medication Administration.

Summary

The Advanced Nursing Extern will be responsible to provide patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The Extern's duties and responsibilities are limited to those that fall under the scope of practice of unlicensed health care providers acting under the direction of a licensed nurse as per the Alabama Board of Nursing. This individual shall support the department of Nursing, which include, but are not limited to, selected technical skills, data collection, and lab specimen collection. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Education/Experience

High School diploma or equivalent required. Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program. Must have completed a MINIMUM of Fundamentals of Nursing Care, Pharmacology, and Medication Administration in Nursing School.

Licensure/Certification

BLS required

• Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software.
