Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in Scotland is recruiting an Advanced Nurse Practitioner to provide care for patients receiving SACT and radiotherapy in both inpatient wards and the Macmillan Day Unit.

This permanent, full-time role offers opportunities to develop specialist oncology skills, with a shift pattern of 4 days and a base location Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre.

Job description

The Role

The Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) provides care for patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT), radiotherapy, and treatment for cancer-related complications. Care is delivered within both the inpatient ward setting and the Macmillan Day Unit.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

Permanent, Full-time

Shift pattern - 4 days, Monday to Saturday

Base location - Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre

Key Responsibilities
  • NMC registered with post-registration senior nursing experience within oncology speciality.
  • Provide advanced nursing care for patients receiving SACT and radiotherapy.
  • Assess and manage complications associated with cancer and its treatments.
  • Deliver patient care in both ward and day unit settings.
  • Participate in rotational working between clinical areas to develop and maintain specialist skills and experience.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
  • Oncology nursing experience is beneficial, but not essential.
  • Successful applicants must complete advanced practice education if they have not already achieved a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Practice.
  • Ability to work across different clinical settings and maintain a wide range of specialist skills.
