Job summary

The US Department of Veterans Affairs in Missouri seeks a Medical Supply Technician (Advanced) in Sterile Processing Service. You will assemble highly complex instrument sets, interpret manufacturer guidelines, and ensure proper cleaning, decontamination and sterilization of items used in operating rooms and clinics.

This GS-07 advanced MST position requires knowledge of SOPs, excellent communication, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment while maintaining patient safety and sanitary

Qualifications

• Six months experience or equivalent education in sterile processing.
• Education: one year above high school with healthcare related courses.
• Equivalent combination of experience and education acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assemble highly complex instrument sets (e.g., endoscopic, OR instruments).
• Process cleaning, decontamination and sterilization per SOPs and guidelines.
• Review manufacturer instructions to ensure correct methods and parameters.
• Troubleshoot and adjust complex decontamination and sterilization equipment.
• Communicate changes in SOPs or instructions to management and staff.
