Job summary

Stanford Advanced Materials is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to develop and manage our supplier network for advanced materials and custom components. This on-site, full-time role focuses on complex, non-transactional sourcing, negotiating terms, and expanding global sources beyond China.

You will collaborate with Sales, Operations, Logistics and Finance to deliver value through strategic supplier relationships and robust sourcing processes in highly regulated markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, materials science, chemistry or related field.
• At least five years in strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier development or related work.
• Ability to locate and qualify new manufacturers and suppliers.
• Experience managing technical RFQs and engineered components.
• Strong supplier communication, negotiation and relationship-management.
• Organize multiple sourcing projects with deadlines and priorities.
• Proficiency with CRM, ERP, procurement or project-management systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work on-site in Costa Mesa, California.

Responsibilities

• Source high-purity metals, alloys, ceramics and custom components.
• Develop a global supplier network beyond China.
• Identify manufacturers, mills, refiners and coating companies.
• Evaluate whether suppliers are manufacturers or distributors.
• Review specs to determine sourcing feasibility.
• Work with Sales to obtain missing technical information for RFQs.
• Prepare RFQ packages with pricing, lead time and terms.
• Review COAs, certifications and material traceability.
• Compare quotations based on landed cost, quality and risk.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, production schedules and long-term supply.
• Build strategic supplier relationships and maintain records.
• Coordinate with Sales, Operations, Logistics, Quality and Finance.
• Identify supply-chain risks including export controls and tariffs.
• Support DFARS/ITAR considerations when applicable.
• Protect confidentiality of drawings and data.
• Monitor market pricing and alternate sources.
• Escalate obstacles and propose practical alternatives.
• Support supplier qualification and continuous improvement.
