Job summary

Innovative Reasoning, LLC seeks a highly experienced military instructor to support EOTG training objectives at Camp Lejeune. You will plan, develop, and deliver advanced small unit tactics and weapons training for deploying units, coordinating with instructors and ensuring high standards.

The role requires exceptional knowledge of TTPs, land navigation, optics, comms, and close combat, plus ability to assess and modify programs of instruction.

Qualifications

• Small Unit Leadership Skills verified by USMC Sergeant's Course or higher.
• Expert knowledge of weapons and optics including standard small arms and related sights.
• Experience with field communications equipment, TAC KIT, and apps.
• Completion in a US Army Advanced Navigation Course or service equivalent.
• Marksmanship proficiency via advanced CQB courses or equivalent.
• Knowledge in scouting and patrolling; tactical operations background.

Responsibilities

• Assist the EOTG lead instructor with planning, coordination, and development of training materials and schedules.
• Maintain proficiency in TTPs and SOPs through reviews and exercises.
• Provide expertise in small unit tactics, weapons, optics, land navigation, comms, and close combat.
• Instruct, assess, evaluate, and deliver training per programs of instruction.
• Serve as instructor/evaluator during pre-deployment certification exercises.
• Participate in High-Risk Training and perform ORM assessments.
• Maintain a repository of training materials; perform admin duties; provide Range Safety support.

Job description

Innovative Reasoning, LLC is recruiting a candidate with remarkable military experience in small unit tactics, techniques and procedures, weapons marksmanship and manipulation including optics, land navigation, communications, and close combat.

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Assist the II Marine Expeditionary Force, Expeditionary Operations Training Group (EOTG) lead military instructor with planning, coordination, and development of training materials, plans and schedules as required to support EOTG in the accomplishment of training objectives and to ensure quality training in line with EOTG’s Course Objectives.
• Maintain proficiency in all tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) associated with assigned courses through After Action Reviews, Marine Corps Doctrine, and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Provide expertise for individual and small unit tactics, techniques, procedures, weapons marksmanship, and manipulation, including optics, land navigations, communications, and close combat.
• Instruct, assess, evaluate, and deliver training and oversight of training in accordance with provided programs of instruction.
• Serve as instructor/evaluator during pre-deployment certification exercises.
• Participate in High-Risk Training (HRT) and perform Operational Risk Management assessments to ensure that HRT events are executed safely.

Supplemental Duties:

• Maintain a repository of training materials to support evolving TTPs.
• Conduct administrative duties resulting from providing specialized training support services.
• Provide Range Safety support in accordance with DoD, Installation, and Command Policy.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Small Unit Leadership Skills verified by completion of USMC Sergeant's Course (or higher), Professional Military Education or other Joint Service, Interagency, or Civilian (e.g., Law Enforcement) equivalent leadership course.

Qualifications and Certifications:

• Expert knowledge on how to operate military weapons to include standard small arms (e.g., M16, M4, HK416, M18); as well as associated military optics/sights.
• User-type knowledge of field communications equipment, specifically AN/PRC-148, AN/PRC-152, AN/PRC-153, and other military communication devices, software (e.g., Tactical Assault Kit), and apps.
• Completion in a U.S Army Advanced Navigation Course, or other Service equivalent.
• Marksmanship/Weapons Proficiency verified by successful completion of at least one (1) advanced course in Close Quarters Tactics/Raids, or Service equivalent.
• Knowledge and experience in scouting and patrolling.
• Must have served within a tactical operations billet in Force Reconnaissance/SOF unit, or relevant equivalent.
• Effective land navigation skills and ability to operate global positioning systems.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Experience:

• REQUIRED
  • Honorably discharged (verified DD-214 with the characterization of service and MOS), prior Staff Non-Commissioned with the grade of E-7, or above in the U.S. Armed Forces.
  • Minimum of sixteen (16) years of Special Operations Forces experience or equivalent.
  • Two (2) Operational deployments minimum.
  • Three (3) years as an instructor at a USMC formal school, SOTG/EOTG, or a Joint Service, Interagency, or Civilian equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience in teaching marksmanship fundamentals for both rifle and pistol in a DoD or civilian capacity.
• PREFERRED
  • Served a minimum of three (3) years as a Platoon Sergeant or Team Chief for a deployable unit.
  • No more than five (5) years removed from active duty or contract assignment teaching or applying advanced weapons handling tactics and marksmanship techniques in permissive, semi-permissive, and non-permissive environments – considered waivable if civilian employment sustained required skills.
  • Three (3) years of experience in conceal handgun and force protection training.

Location: Position is at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, Stone Bay, NC.

• The contractor will work in a mixed civilian/military environment providing training to deploying units.
• Work conditions can vary from a busy office environment to fieldwork, both subject to frequent interruptions. Additional specific details related to working conditions may be outlined in the Performance Work Statement or Client Contract.
• May occasionally be required to work non-routine office hours, travel to other locations, or work extended hours in support of training events or exercise.

Physical Demands:

• Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday. Requires constant use of hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Additional specific details related to physical requirements may be outlined in the Performance Work Statement or Client Contract.
• Be physically capable of performing all tasks specified in the Performance Work Statement or perspective area of expertise or prescribed in the EOTG Period of Instruction.

Work Schedule: Full time.

License and Other Requirements:

• Hold a valid US Driver’s License, with ability to operate private, commercial and Government owned motor vehicles.
• Possess a current Basic First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification.
• Must be able to obtain a contractor's common access card, which will stand as identification for instructors and will enable them to access government owned computer equipment and Non-secure Internet Protocol.

Security Clearance: Currently possess an active U.S. Secret Top Secret / SCI security clearance and can obtain a Secure Internet Protocol (SIPR) access token with access to government SIPR computers terminals.

Travel: Approx. 8 weeks per year off base training in CONUS and OCONUS locations; conduct periodic off base site surveys; attend various sustainment training when available.
