Chief purpose of this position in support of above mission orgoal:

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology isseeking a member to join our comprehensive Advanced Heart FailureProgram at the Pauley Heart Center. The successful candidate willdedicate their time to care for patients with heart failure, hearttransplantation and mechanical circulatory support devices. Also,they will integrate into the multidisciplinary team and participatein teaching, quality improvement and outreach projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Teaching: To support teaching directly via interactions withFellows, Housestaff and non-physician professionals. Periodicallywill be expected to present appropriate reviews in patientmanagement discussions at Cardiology and Department of InternalMedicine conferences. In addition, will be expected to participatein University Continuing Medical Education programs for practicingphysicians which is important to enhancing patient referrals.

Research: To support clinical research protocols asneeded.

Service: The successful candidate will be expected toparticipate in quality, safety, and efficiency initiatives. Formalleadership positions may be considered based on prior experienceand rank.

Clinical: Will primarily be dedicated to the outpatient,inpatient, catheterization laboratory and consultativeservices.

Other: Submit billing and document care as required by theorganization. Abide by all medical staff requirements.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

• BC/BE Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiologist, withdemonstrated skills in cardiovascular disease, MCS and hearttransplantation
• Must be able to communicate effectively and work with a largemultidisciplinary program
• Participate in teaching and fellowship programs
• Must be eligible for medical licensure in the state ofVirginia
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
