Silco Fire & Security in Columbus, OH is seeking an Advanced Fire Protection Technician Trainee to enter our ranks. You will assist in inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm and sprinkler systems under experienced technicians, gaining hands-on training for a career as a certified Fire Protection Technician.

Responsibilities include inspecting systems, documenting findings, and supporting maintenance with a focus on safety, compliance, and high-quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical knowledge or low voltage.
• Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Proficiency with basic hand and power tools.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and test fire alarm systems, including control panels, detectors, and notification devices, ensuring NFPA compliance.
• Inspect and test sprinkler systems, documenting findings and discrepancies.
• Maintain and repair fire alarm and sprinkler systems under supervision.
• Produce inspection reports and maintain records of inspections, tests, and repairs.
• Participate in ongoing training programs to enhance technical knowledge.
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure compliance with fire codes and standards.
