Job summary

Owens Corning is seeking an Advanced CFD Modeling Engineer to apply computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and multiphase flow to industrial and manufacturing challenges. You will translate physics-based simulations into actionable engineering decisions to improve process performance and shorten development cycles.

Lead modeling efforts, build validated workflows, and collaborate across R&D, operations, and capital projects.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics, or related engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience applying CFD and computational modeling to industrial or manufacturing challenges.
  • Strong foundation in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, turbulence, multiphase flow, and transport phenomena.
  • Experience leading complex modeling projects with measurable business impact.
  • Ability to communicate complex simulation insights to diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead CFD and computational modeling efforts supporting product development, process innovation, and capital projects.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify high-value modeling opportunities and prioritize work by impact and risk.
  • Create reusable modeling workflows, templates, and validation practices to improve speed and quality.

Owens Corning is seeking an Advanced CFD Modeling Engineer with deep experience applying computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer, turbulence, multiphase flow, combustion, particle transport, and transport phenomena to solve complex industrial and manufacturing challenges. Proven ability to translate physics-based simulation into practical engineering decisions that improve process performance, accelerate innovation, reduce testing cycles, de-risk capital projects, and create measurable business value.

Computational Fluid Dynamics and Physics-Based Modeling
  • Develop and apply high‑fidelity CFD models for fluid flow, heat transfer, turbulence, multiphase systems, combustion, mixing, particle transport, and material processing.
  • Use simulation to evaluate process design, operating windows, scale‑up risk, manufacturing performance, and product/process innovation opportunities.
  • Translate model outputs into clear engineering recommendations for technical and business stakeholders.
  • Build validated modeling approaches by connecting simulation results with experimental, lab, pilot, and manufacturing data.
  • Apply digital engineering methods to reduce physical testing, shorten development cycles, and improve decision confidence.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with structural modeling concepts and the ability to connect CFD insights with structural, thermal‑mechanical, or materials performance considerations where appropriate.
  • Use Simulation Data Management (SDM) tools and practices to organize simulation data, capture new modeling concepts, preserve learnings, and improve accessibility of validated methods across teams.
  • Implement AI, machine learning, surrogate modeling, and automation concepts to improve modeling productivity and accessibility.
