Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. in San Diego, CA is seeking highly motivated Advanced Energy Interns for our Summer 2027 intern program. This paid full-time position runs June–August 2027 (flexible) with potential to transition to a full-time role after graduation.

The intern will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders, partnering with engineers, scientists, and technologists.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor or Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Energy, Sustainability, Energy Systems, or related field.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Solid technical and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated, detail oriented person.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
• Experience with engineering software applications (AutoCAD, Mathcad, ESRI, Hydro Cad, Water Cad, ArcView GIS, etc.) is preferred but not required.
• Experience with data analysis and familiarity with Power BI is preferred but not required.
• Applicants for this intern role must possess a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Support various project tasks including regulatory requirements/review estimates, research, procurement support, etc.
• Perform data entry, data management, data evaluation, and data present.
• Support the preparation of reports, plans and specifications for client.
• Support market research, audits, quality controls, etc.
• Support for feasibility studies and designs for energy storage and microgrids if needed.
• May work on field assignments such as attending local meetings, tradeshows, and client meetings as needed.
• Will be supported by leaders, mentors and teammates.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary.

TRC is seeking highly motivated and diverse Advanced Energy Interns for our Summer 2027 intern program out of our San Diego, CA Office. This is a paid full-time position. Anticipated duration will be from June through August 2027 (flexible). This position has the potential to transition into a Full-Time role upon graduation. Compensation

In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation

Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
