Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City, MO, seeks an Advanced Endoscopy Fellow in Internal Medicine (Gastroenterology) to perform advanced therapeutic endoscopy and contribute to teaching and scholarly activity.

The role involves supervising medical students and residents, developing research protocols, and maintaining clinical productivity aligned with benchmarks. It is a fixed-term, full-time residency-type fellowship position in a leading academic medical center.

Qualifications

• MD or equivalent degree from an accredited medical program.
• Board eligible or board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
• Completion of a standard three-year GI fellowship.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced therapeutic and interventional endoscopic procedures (ERCP, sphincterotomy, lithotripsy, stent placement).
• Perform EUS with FNA, core biopsy, and celiac plexus procedures for staging and management.
• Perform EMR/ablation and esophageal/colonic stent placement.
• Serve as attending of record for general endoscopy sessions (approx. 52/year).
• Contribute to research projects, manuscript preparation, and presentations at conferences.
• Develop skills in research protocol design and abstract writing.
• Supervise and teach fellows, residents, and medical students in procedural and clinical care.
