Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City is seeking an Advanced Endoscopy Fellow in Internal Medicine (Gastroenterology). The fellow will perform advanced therapeutic endoscopy and participate in research and teaching across clinical and procedural settings.

The role develops expertise in ERCP, EUS, EMR, and esophageal procedures, with involvement in manuscript preparation and scholarly activity, plus supervision of medical trainees and collaboration at academic conferences.

Qualifications

• MD or equivalent degree from an accredited medical program.
• Completion of a standard GI fellowship (3 years).
• Board eligible or board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
• Experience with advanced therapeutic endoscopic procedures is preferred.
• Ability to supervise and teach medical students, residents, and fellows.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced therapeutic and interventional endoscopic procedures (ERCP, sphincterotomy, stone extraction, lithotripsy, stent placement, sphincter of Oddi manometry).
• Perform EUS with fine needle aspiration, core biopsy, and cancer staging.
• Perform EMR and ablation, and stent placement in esophagus, duodenum, and colon.
• Serve as attending of record for general endoscopy sessions (approx. 52/year).
• Participate in ongoing research projects and manuscript preparation.
• Develop research protocols and abstracts for presentations.
• Supervise and teach fellows, residents, and medical students in procedures and clinics.
• Maintain clinical productivity aligned with MGMA WRVU benchmarks.
