Job summary

Vistra Nuclear Operations in Perry, Ohio seeks an Electronics Lab Specialist to implement a variety of tasks associated with planning, developing and performing troubleshooting, refurbishment and repairs of electrical and electronic items (i.e., circuit boards, power supplies etc.).

The personnel in the position will be required to develop test procedures and test set-ups for items being serviced, perform the refurbishment and repairs and complete and document prescribed acceptance testing.

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of complex electrical/electronic devices and circuit analysis.
  • Strong computer, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary electrical/electronic repair qualifications.
  • Overtime, call-ins, and off-shifts may be required.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repair of circuit boards and power supplies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and perform troubleshooting of electrical/electronic items.
  • Refurbish and repair circuit boards and power supplies.
  • Develop test procedures and test set-ups for serviced items.

Job Summary

Our team at Perry Nuclear Power Plant is seeking qualified talent to join our team in North Perry, OH. Perry Nuclear Power Plant sits on Lake Erie which is 35 miles east of Cleveland. This Boiling Water Reactor unit generates enough electricity to power more than 1 million homes daily and is one of the largest BWRs in the US. The National Institute of Urban Wildlife has certified the Perry Plant site as an Urban Wildlife Sanctuary. More than 850 acres of natural forests and marshes provide diverse habitat for area wildlife. This selected candidate to this role demonstrates commitment and ownership of their own safety as well as a willingness to address the safety of others and organization safety objectives.

The Electronics Repair Lab Specialist is responsible for implementing a variety of tasks associated with planning, developing and performing troubleshooting, refurbishment and repairs of electrical and electronic items (i.e., circuit boards, power supplies etc.). The personnel in the position will be required to develop test procedures and test set-ups for items being serviced, perform the refurbishment and repairs and complete and document prescribed acceptance testing. In addition, this position at times may require personnel to assist in the areas of dedication testing and failure analysis.

Job Description Qualifications
  • This position requires in-depth technical knowledge of complex electrical and electronic devices and the ability to analyze electronic circuits.
  • Demonstrated strong computer skills as well as communication, inter-personal, customer service and time management skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain qualifications required to perform electrical/electronic repairs (i.e. specialized test equipment, circuit theory, soldering).
  • Demonstrated performance and proficiency at previous electrical/electronic technical or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Availability and willingness to work overtime, call-ins and off-shifts.
  • Must have demonstrated ability for solving technical problems.
  • The Electronics Lab Specialist must be able to understand how a part or component functions then conceptualize and visualize how the item must be tested to verify its proper operation.
  • Ability to take a failed part/component, develop an understanding of why or how it failed, and devise methods and procedures to repair and test the item prior to returning it to the site as a usable spare.
  • Should be able to lead others by having a thorough understanding of projects.
  • Should have demonstrated initiative, creativity, dependability, good judgment and a good work ethic.
Education
  • Minimum of High school education with up to 2 years of formal post high school specialized trade, military or technical training in electrical and electronic components and 5 years’ experience; OR an Associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school in electronic engineering or servicing and 3 years’ experience; OR 4-year degree in a related field with 0-2 years’ experience.
  • Advanced degree and/or applicable experience preferred.
