Job summary

Nextran Truck Centers is seeking an Advanced Diesel Technician in Fort Lauderdale to diagnose, repair, and rebuild components on diesel equipment. You will interact with customers and vendors, document repairs, and perform emergency service calls as needed.

The role requires 2–4 years of related experience, ASE and Cummins certifications are a plus, and a High School Diploma or higher with basic computer skills are expected. CDL is a plus and may be required within a year.

Qualifications

• Two to four years related experience and/or training.
• ASE Certification a plus.
• Cummins Engine Repair Certification a plus.
• Basic computer skills.
• High School Diploma.
• College or Technical training preferred but not required.
• Valid CDL License a plus recommended within 1 year of hiring.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair assigned equipment.
• Rebuild major components on assigned equipment.
• Ensure accurate diagnosis and repair of components for proper function.
• Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Interact professionally with customers, vendors and employees regarding repairs and shop business.
• Document all work performed on the repair order and report updates to supervisor.

Job Duties

1. Essential Duties Technical Maintain proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of all assigned equipment


2. Maintain proficiency in the rebuilding of major components on assigned equipment


3. Ensure accurate diagnosis and the effective repair andor replacement of components necessary for the proper functioning of assigned equipment


4. Perform Service calls for emergency breakdowns


5. Administrative Interact effectively courteously professionally with customers vendors and other employees regarding vehicle repairs and other shop business


6. Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor


7. Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts


8. Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer


9. Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended


10. Communicates with service advisordispatcher immediately on repair updates and or delays


11. Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order


12. Supervises work of any apprentice technicians as assigned


13. Health and SafetyReports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor


14. Ensures that vehicle is kept clean


15. Notifies service advisordispatcher immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle


16. Maintains and is accountable for all dealership owned tools and manuals


17. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received


18. Understands keeps abreast of and complies with federal state and local regulations such as hazardous waste disposal OSHA Right to Know etc


19. Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins


20. Operates all toolsequipment in a safe manner and reports any safety issues immediately to management


21. Make building and facility repairs as requested


22. Perform other maintenance duties or assignments as requested

Skills and Qualifications

• Two to four years related experience andor training; or equivalent combination of education and experience


• ASE Certification a plus


• Cummins Engine Repair Certification a plus


• Basic computer skills


• High School Diploma


• College or Technical training preferred but not required
