Job summary

Electronic Arts is seeking an Advanced DevOps & Automation Engineer to design, implement, and maintain scalable systems for Unreal Engine game development at Tiburon Studios in Orlando. You will automate CI/CD pipelines, IaC, monitoring, and release governance, collaborating across gameplay, backend, and tools teams to improve velocity and reliability.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional software development or DevOps experience.
  • 5+ years CI/CD with Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
  • 3+ years C++ programming.
  • 3+ years automation for large-scale or live-service environments.
  • Strong scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • IaC frameworks: Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation.
  • Perforce and/or Git version control workflows.
  • Experience building monitoring/alerting (Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, CloudWatch).
  • Networking, security concepts, and environment isolation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Unreal Engine game clients and backend services.
  • Automate build, deployment, and environment management across Dev, Staging, Production.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
  • Monitor, diagnose, and resolve issues impacting build stability and uptime.
  • Collaborate with gameplay, backend, and tools engineers to remove bottlenecks in Unreal Engine workflows.
  • Manage version control integrations and release strategies.
  • Implement monitoring, observability, and alerting for reliability.
  • Drive deployment practices, testing automation, and rollback strategies.
  • Define and track engineering KPIs (build success rate, MTTR).
  • Promote DevOps best practices and testing culture across the studio.

American Football games (Madden, College Football, and our new project) are developed at EA's Tiburon Studios in Orlando, FL, Madrid, Spain, and Victoria, BC, Canada by a team that prides itself on innovation and creative collaboration. We’re looking for top technical talent passionate about automation, scalability, and reliability to help redefine how we build, deploy, and operate large-scale connected game experiences within Unreal Engine for a new title that connects with football fans around the world.

Reporting to a Software Engineering Manager, as an Advanced DevOps & Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable systems and tools that improve developer velocity, build stability, and service reliability across multiple environments. Your work will have a direct impact on how our teams develop, integrate, and deliver world-class sports entertainment experiences.

Your Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for Unreal Engine game clients, backend services, and tools using C++, python, c#, groovy, and more.
  • Automate build, deployment, and environment management processes across Dev, Staging, and Production.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
  • Monitor, diagnose, and resolve issues affecting build stability, uptime, and environment health.
  • Collaborate closely with gameplay, backend, and tools engineers to identify and eliminate workflow bottlenecks within Unreal Engine.
  • Manage version control integrations and branch strategies to ensure stable and consistent release cycles.
  • Implement monitoring, observability, and alerting solutions to ensure proactive service reliability.
  • Drive continuous improvement in deployment practices, including test automation, rollback strategies, and release governance.
  • Contribute to defining and tracking key engineering KPIs, including build success rate, environment uptime, and mean time to recovery (MTTR).
  • Champion DevOps best practices across the studio, helping teams adopt modern, automated workflows.
  • Foster a strong testing culture by actively promoting best practices, mentoring team members, and driving the consistent adoption of effective testing methodologies across the team.
Your Qualifications
  • 7+ years of professional software development or DevOps engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with CI/CD systems such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
  • 3+ years of programming experience with C++
  • 3+ years of experience developing automation for large-scale or live-service environments.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with one or more cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure (multi-cloud experience preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks such as Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation for scalable, repeatable environment management.
  • Experience with Perforce and/or Git version control workflows.
  • Experience building and maintaining monitoring and alerting systems (Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or CloudWatch).
  • Strong understanding of networking, security practices, and environment isolation.
  • Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • A passion for automation, developer enablement, and building reliable systems that scale.
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine and its build and development ecosystem (e.g., Unreal Build Tool, Unreal Automation Tool, Horde, SubmitTool) is desired.
