Job summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a Dental Assistant III for a busy residency program. You will provide chairside support across general, surgical, and anesthesia procedures, working with residents and faculty in a dynamic environment, including OR settings and inpatient care.

Responsibilities include room maintenance, radiographs, patient instruction, and monitoring during sedation. This role follows a 7:30–4:30 schedule, onsite at UAB.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Dental Assistant Program.
• Two years of related experience preferred; work experience may substitute for education.

Responsibilities

• Provide chairside support in various dental procedures and four handed dentistry.
• Maintain surgery rooms and equipment, take and process radiographs.
• Assist residents and faculty with anesthesia including conscious sedation and nitrous oxide.
• Obtain patient consent and verbally communicate preoperative and post-operative instructions.
• Attach/detach monitors during sedation and report abnormal vital signs to supervisors.
• Perform clerical and administrative duties in support of the department.
