Job summary

OHSU School of Dentistry is seeking an Advanced Dental Assistant to provide chair side support to dentists, students, interns and residents. You may also handle scheduling, billing and patient record maintenance as part of a broader clinical team.

The role requires completion of an approved Dental Assistant program and relevant advanced specialty experience, plus radiological proficiency certification and BLS. This is a full-time position in Portland with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved Dental Assistant training program and 2 years' chair side experience in an Advanced Specialty OR 3 years' experience in an Advanced Specialty.
• Certification by the Oregon State Board of Dentistry for Radiological Proficiency.
• BLS from AHA; onboarding training.
• Must have worked as a dental assistant in an advanced specialty within the last 5 years.
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Provide chair side dental support for dentists, dental students, interns and residents, dental hygienists, or dental technicians.
• Assist with educational support for dental students in techniques of four handed dentistry.
• Assist in post-operative care, such as dressing changes, sedation setup, and monitoring sedation.
• May assist with routine ORs and clinic schedule coverage.
• Document in EHR including health history, findings, and procedures.
