Qualifications

• BLS within 30 days (AHA).
• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in IL (IDFPR).
• ACLS within 1 year (AHA).
• Education: College Diploma in Nursing.
• Work Experience: as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Promotes evidence-based practice through the nursing process, protocols and procedures.
• Assesses patient status via interview, observation and physical assessment.
• Develops an individualized plan of care with patient/family and health care team.
• Uses interventions in the plan of care to achieve expected patient outcomes.
• Documents patient progress and evaluates outcomes throughout the shift.
• Modifies plan of care based on evaluation and patient condition.
• Completes required documentation including patient chart and event reports.
• Demonstrates knowledge to operate and troubleshoot equipment; shares know-how with colleagues.
• Promotes patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment (as applicable).
• Obtains adequate lab specimens and performs bedside lab testing per orders and policies.
• Coordinates interdisciplinary care and uses resources when needed.
• Analyzes clinical situations and resolves issues to meet patient needs.
• Collaborates with physicians and nurses for timely assistance.
• Delivers clear shift reports and advocates for patients with physicians.
• Communicates effectively to support high team performance and patient outcomes.
• Adapts teaching strategies to patient/family learning needs and cultural factors.
• Ensures safety by following policies and national safety goals.
• Seeks resources within hospital for specialized education; uses patient education systems.
• Participates in data collection and process improvements; supports patient satisfaction.
• Promotes and achieves customer satisfaction across patients, families and departments.
• Supports performance improvement initiatives and follows up on patient/family requests.
• Engages in unit-based councils and identifies practice problems for improvement.
