Job summary

Sharp HealthCare in Oceanside, CA is seeking an Advanced Care Technician for night shifts under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will provide basic patient care across infant, pediatric, and adult populations, helping with daily activities, meals, and comfort measures while ensuring safety and infection control.

Responsibilities include documenting observations, reporting to supervisors, assisting with transport, and NICU formula preparation.

Qualifications

• AHA BLS Healthcare certification required.
• CNA, LVN, Corpsman, or nursing student with fundamentals required at hire.
• NVCI training within 90 days of hire or transfer.
• Maintain 10 CE credits related to work annually.

Hours

Shift Start Time: 7 PM

Shift End Time: 7:30 AM

AWS Hours Requirement: 12/36 - 12 Hour Shift

Additional Shift Information: Minimum three weekend shifts per 4 week schedule

Weekend Requirements: As Needed

On-Call Required: No

Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum): $25.000 - $25.630 - $30.330

This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU.

In alignment with the STC SEIU CBA, this position will be posted for 7 days internally from 10/13/26 to 10/20/26 and available only to existing members of the ratified STC SEIU Bargaining Unit.

What You Will Do

An Advanced Care Technician work under the direction of a Registered Nurse, provides basic patient care and comfort measures for assigned patients. These duties are not to exclude other duties that may be assigned. Provides care for infant (0-1 year of age), emergency pediatric (1-13 years of age), and adult (14 years of age and older) populations.

Required Qualifications

• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications

• ACT: 3-6 months previous experience in an acute care facility, preferred.
• ACT-Float: 1-Year previous experience in an acute care facility, preferred.
• NICU Department: Minimum 2 years CNA experience, required. Pediatric experience strongly preferred.

Other Qualification Requirements

• One or more of the following is required upon hire:
  • Current California Certified Nurse Assistant Certification, or
  • Current California Licensed Vocational Nurse, or
  • Corpsman (military), or
  • Nursing student that has completed the fundamentals of nursing including initial assessment and taking vitals.

  NVCI within 90 days of hire or transfer, required (ED, BHU IP and OP only).

  Maintain a minimum of 10 related to work CE from TCMC or other source annually in lieu of maintaining certification.

• Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
• Provides comfort measures to patients.
• Provides assistance with patient’s daily needs.
• Assists patients with meals as needed.
• Records and reports observations to immediate supervisor, including temperature, pulse, weight, and daily input and output.
• Cleans and prepares medical equipment. Reports condition of equipment.
• Assists in transporting patients, as necessary.
• Formula preparation (NICU Department)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Basic computer skills.
• Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English.
• Knowledge of electronic charting.
