Oregon Health & Science University invites highly qualified candidates to apply to its Advanced and Structural Cardiac Imaging Fellowship. This one-year program develops the skills to become an academic multimodality cardiac imager, with dedicated research time and mentorship to pursue independent projects.
The curriculum emphasizes clinical echocardiography (including structural and procedural TEE), cardiac MRI, CT and nuclear imaging, with exposure to structural echo procedures (TAVR, valve
We are pleased to invite well-qualified individuals to apply to the Oregon Health & Science University’s Advanced and Structural Cardiac Imaging Fellowship. The 1-year program is designed to help fellows develop the necessary skills to be successful academic multimodality cardiovascular imagers, including a focus on structural imaging for those interested in this area. The fellow will have dedicated time for research and will be expected to work on independent research projects under the mentorship of one or more faculty. Our curriculum focuses on clinical skills in advanced echocardiography, including structural and procedural TEE, cardiac MRI, cardiac CT, and nuclear imaging.
The experience in echocardiography will cover advanced skills beyond general cardiology training and the fellow will be exposed to and become an expert in:
Fellows will have the opportunity to play an integral role in our structural echo procedures (TAVR, mitral and tricuspid interventions, ASD closures, valve-in-valve procedures, paravalvular leak closures, alcohol septal ablations, etc). Our institution is proud to have access to the latest technologies from multiple vendors with opportunities to learn on the latest state-of-the-art imaging equipment.
For fellows interested in obtaining experience in cardiac MRI, training will cover the imaging of cardiomyopathies (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, other genetic cardiomyopathies, sarcoidosis), myocarditis, cardiac tumors/masses, pericardial disease, adult congenital heart disease, and valvular heart disease. The fellow will be involved in the protocoling, supervising acquisition, and reporting of cardiac MRI exams.
The experience in cardiac CT will include coronary imaging (CAC score and CTA), pre- and post-procedural interventional imaging (TAVR, TMVR, TTVR, ASD, LAAO), and adult congenital heart disease. The daily work will include protocoling, supervising the acquisition, and reporting of cardiac CT exams. The fellow will work in a multidisciplinary team, which includes cardiologists, radiologists, interventional cardiologists, and cardiothoracic surgeons. The fellow will have an opportunity to attend and present during structural interventional conferences. For fellows interested in the structural echo track, participation in the structural heart clinic will be included, providing an opportunity to become an expert in all aspects of structural heart care.
For interested fellows, the experience in nuclear cardiology will cover myocardial perfusion imaging with SPECT and PET, PET imaging of inflammatory cardiomyopathies, and amyloid imaging. They will have opportunities to work with the MRI/PET scanner.
The goal of our program is to train outstanding clinicians in multimodality cardiac imaging, including echocardiography, CT, MRI and PET/nuclear imaging. For fellows interested in structural imaging, the goal is to train clinicians who can lead or participate in a structural imaging program. This fellowship is tailored to the needs of specific fellows; most fellows who complete the fellowship will be proficient in at least two modalities of cardiac imaging (level III training achieved in at least two modalities). The fellow will be able to lead an imaging laboratory.
Tailored to the fellow but will include advanced echocardiography including structural and interventional echocardiography, CT, MR and/or nuclear imaging.
