Job summary

Missouri Baptist Medical Center, part of BJC HealthCare, is seeking a student nurse tech to support the Advanced Cardiac Care Unit. The role includes 12-hour shifts, daytime coverage, and every third weekend, offering hands-on patient care under the supervision of experienced nurses.

You must be enrolled in an accredited RN program and have completed at least one fundamental clinical. Preferred experience includes Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Student Nurse Tech.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited RN program and has completed one semester of fundamentals clinical.
• Preferred experience: Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Student Nurse Tech.
• Enrolled in a BSN program is viewed favorably for this role.
• Demonstrates reliable attendance and ability to follow nursing processes.
• Strong communication and teamwork with nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Assists nurse with patient and family education. Documents all patient care activities using correct medical terminology.
• Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary and ensures patient safety.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.
• Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports abnormal findings to the nurse.

Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Provides multi-skilled, direct patient care, under the direction and supervision of a registered professional nurse. This job requires completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent (fundamentals, foundations, or adult/peds health.

Responsibilities

• Assists nurse with patient and family education. Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology. Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.

• Instructs patients in preparations for tests and procedures.
