Job summary

Shrive Technologies is seeking a senior IT program lead to drive data integration across Discovery Research and Data Science. You will bridge R&D and IT, deliver scalable solutions, and coordinate unstructured data integration into the MRL landscape with cross-functional collaboration.

The role emphasizes managing data capture, storage, search and visualization, applying FAIR principles and ensuring business continuity for MA&D activities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Deliver data integration projects and manage milestones.
  • Collaborate with scientists to capture, store, search, integrate and visualize data using FAIR principles.
  • Process and manage entity registration requests from medicinal chemists and CRO partners.
  • Support sample management for chemical registration and compound categorization.
  • Partner with IT MA&D and Solution Architects to define delivery approaches.
  • Perform hands-on execution of complex tasks across systems and data workflows.
  • Coordinate onboarding of on-premise and cloud data, migrations and archiving.
  • Support integration for platforms such as eNotebook, chem/bioassay data upload, dashboards using Merck tools.
  • Manage Jira tasks and Kanban boards to track progress and milestones.

Job description

This role requires proven experience with scientific software in the pharmaceutical sector, particularly in Discovery and Development systems, expertise in scientific informatics, SDLC, and FAIR data practices. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in project management, strategic IT planning, and operational efficiency, with strong experience bridging R&D and IT through customer-facing initiatives. The candidate will leverage their expertise to deliver impactful technology solutions, working closely with technical SMEs to integrate unstructured data into the existing MRL application landscape. This role ensures business continuity for Discovery Research, Data Science, and Chem/Bioinformatics/Genomics teams while supporting scalable, repeatable IT practices to support MA&D activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Delivery & Integration.
  • Lead and manage delivery of key tasks and milestones for data integration activities.
  • Collaborate with scientists to identify needs and implement solutions for data capture, storage, search, integration, and visualization, applying FAIR data principles.
  • Process and manage various incoming entity registration requests submitted by medicinal chemists and CRO partners.
  • Support the sample management group for chemical registration and compound categorization based on chemical structures to diversify weekly screening compounds for lead generation.
  • Collaborate with IT Product teams and Solution Architects to define solution needs and delivery approaches aligned with business outcomes.
  • Perform hands-on execution of complex technical tasks, applying business rules to deliver seamless integration activities across systems and data workflows alongside the product teams.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to execute integration plans, especially for unstructured data into the MRL application landscape.
  • Manage onboarding of on-premise and cloud data, along with system migrations and archiving.
  • Support integration for platforms such as eNotebook, browser creation, chem/bioassay data upload, sample logistics, dashboards, etc., using Merck-specific tools.
Technical Expertise
  • Familiarity with chemical databases, compound registration principles, and data management.
  • Knowledge of chemical structure representation formats (e.g., MOL, SDF, SMILES, Inch, CAS Registry Numbers).Experience with databases (Oracle, SQL) & scripting (e.g., Python, SQL) is a plus.
  • Stakeholder Engagement.
  • Build strong relationships with the IT MA&D and Business Integration Teams, MRL IT Product Line Leads, and Product Managers.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment and transparency across teams.
  • Serve as a strategic liaison between M&A National Guard, partners, and operational teams, transforming business requirements into executable IT solutions and delivery plans.
  • Planning & Execution.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project delivery plans, timelines, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and maintain Jira tasks and Kanban boards to track progress, assign responsibilities, and ensure timely delivery of planned milestones.
  • Transition & Support.
  • Coordinate smooth handoff to business teams once unstructured data integration activities.
