Job summary

The Jewish Community Center of Greater KC (The J) in Overland Park, KS is looking for enthusiastic Baseball Coaches and Assistant Coaches for players aged 9–12. Join a supportive staff to deliver instruction, develop skills, discipline and sportsmanship through practices and games.

This part-time position offers $26-$30 per 90-minute session and a free individual membership to The J facilities. Flexible evenings and weekends required; experience with children and baseball rules preferred.

Description

The J is hiring enthusiastic and knowledgeable Baseball Coach and Assistant Coaches for our advanced teams.

This coaching staff will provide instruction and impart their knowledge of the game to young players ages 9-12. The J’s Baseball instructional program emphasizes skill development, self-discipline and safety and teaches the value of good sportsmanship. Experience as a coach/player is required.

Schedule

We are hiring reliable part-time staff to assist with practice/training sessions on weeknights and to coach games/tournaments on weekends, with a chance of weeknight games.

Essential Functions

• Lead and assist coach with baseball drills at practices and assistant coach in games for ages 9-12
• Help set up and tear down equipment
• Supervise children ages 9 to 12 years old
• Head Coach provides clear and timely communication with parents and Assistant Coaches give positive communication and reinforce the coaches direction

Requirements

• Experience working with children preferred
• Experience as a coach/player is required
• Knowledge of baseball and its rules
• Able to work a flexible schedule
• Must have reliable transportation

Physical Requirements

• Constant standing, walking and exposure to the weather outdoors
• Frequent walking/running, eye/hand/foot coordination, talking and hearing to demonstrate and execute skills
• Occasional lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs. to move equipment as needed
