Job summary

Castelion is seeking a CNC Machinist for a 5-axis operation on the 2nd shift (2:30pm to 11:00pm) to machine high-performance aerospace components. The role involves setting up, programming, and running multi-axis CNC mills and lathes, with a focus on precision and adherence to tight tolerances.

You will read blueprints and GD&T, manage tooling, and troubleshoot issues to maximize uptime. Experience with aerospace alloys and multiple control systems is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in CNC machining for aerospace.
• Proficient in reading blueprints, GD&T, and tolerances.
• Experience with aerospace materials and hard metals.
• Strong setup and operating skills on CNC mills and lathes.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and program multi-axis CNC mills and lathes (up to 5-axis).
• Perform precision inspections using metrology equipment to verify dimensions.
• Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, GD&T, and other docs.
• Manage cutting tools in CNC machines for upcoming programs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operation issues to maximize uptime.
• Operate CNC machines in production to meet quick-turn goals.
• Deburr and clean parts to ensure quality and reduce rework.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment per 5S principles.
• Provide feedback for process improvements to engineering/leadership.
• Participate in preventative maintenance of CNC machines weekly/monthly.
• Communicate with shop leadership about production challenges.
