Mayfield Brain & Spine is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Vascular Surgery team in Norwood. This role supports four vascular surgeons by expanding patient access through timely evaluations of new patients, management of appropriate follow-up care for established patients, and delivery of high-quality clinical care. The APP will assess and manage patients, develop treatment plans, and complete documentation, medication management, and orders within the electronic medical record (EMR).

Education & Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) program
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice in the state of Ohio (and Kentucky, if job duties require)
    • (NP) Current RN and APRN licensure
      • RN First Assist Certification is a plus
    • (PA) Current PA licensure
  • Active authority/certificate to prescribe required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in acute healthcare or physician practice setting
  • Minimum of 2 years supporting vascular surgeons and their patient population
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Supports all Vascular physicians within the organization. Works within the structure of the Vascular pod to provide rapid access for new patients and minimize established patient visits as appropriate. Medical management of patients in the office and assessing their condition; establishing and maintaining treatment plans; entering medications, orders, and chart notes into the EMR.
Essential Functions:
  • Help develop and maintain a corporate culture that supports the mission and values of Mayfield Clinic.
  • Medical management of vascular patients in the office and assessing their condition; establishing and maintaining treatment plans; documenting chart notes.
  • Act as a liaison between physician and patient by providing the patient with instruction from the physician, advising the physician of the patient’s needs, and assuring that the physician is available to the patient whenever necessary, in person or by telephone.
  • Review Priority Consult/surveillance imaging patients to identify conditions, recommended treatment plan, and/or referral to the correct Vascular surgeon for treatment.
  • Utilize both clinic visits and virtual follow-up options (such as care coordination triage and follow-up, phone calls and video visits) to create an efficient, patient-centric access route for Mayfield patients.
  • Document all patient interactions promptly and thoroughly into the patient’s medical record, including a record of phone calls, changes in prescriptions, etc.
  • Attend weekly Vascular Conference and actively contribute to multidisciplinary patient care discussions. Participation will focus on observation and learning; as knowledge and experience develop, assume responsibility for coordinating appropriate patient management.
  • Participate in hospital patient rounding, as needed.
  • Collaborate with appropriate personnel for coordination of outpatient testing.
  • Maintain and upgrade clinical skills and professional expertise through participation in professional organizations, workshop attendance, CEU activities, formal education, and current literature review.
  • Provide health education and clinical information to patients, Mayfield associates, hospital personnel, and professional organizations.
  • Plan, direct, and participate in programs of nursing care with emphasis on continuity and individual care.
  • Plan, develop, and implement educational programs for patients and families, including direct teaching and discharge planning.
  • Collaborate on research endeavors with other health professionals.
  • Participate in research projects for clinical studies as requested.
  • Keep informed of scientific investigations in the area of neurosciences.
  • Assist in clinical quality improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Contribute to team effort by performing other duties as assigned.
