The Advanced Practice Provider is an independent health care provider who coordinates care through collaboration with the attending Physician. The PA or APN provides care in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures of the practice and the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Advisory Committee. The main function of this role is to provide consistent high quality perioperative and postoperative care for all surgery patients. The APP will be expected to function as an active member of the surgery patient care team. Responsibilities include surgical first assisting, perioperative and postoperative management, hospital rounds on inpatients, and emergency room consultations. The APP will be expected to work to the full extent of their licensure with an emphasis on supervised autonomy.
