Job summary

MSCR is seeking an engaging Watercolor Painting Instructor to lead weekly adult classes in a recreational setting. The 8-week sessions aim to build practical watercolor skills while fostering community and art appreciation, with sessions starting January 2027 at MSCR West.

The ideal candidate will confidently teach watercolor, design accessible lesson plans, adapt to diverse learning styles, and help adults stay active and connected through the arts. Tuesday availability is required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to teach Watercolor Studio on Tuesdays from 12:30 - 3:00 PM across specified dates.
• Proficiency in painting watercolor.
• Previous experience teaching, tutoring, or leading group instruction.
• Ability to design easy-to-follow, engaging lesson plans for adult learners.
• Knowledge of various painting styles and techniques to share with the class.
• Reliable transportation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for helping adults stay active, curious, and connected to fine arts.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, engaging, and inclusive watercolor classes.
• Create weekly lesson plans that cover basic painting skills, techniques, and exploration of the medium.
• Adapt teaching methods to support a variety of learning styles and levels.
• Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where participants feel successful and comfortable developing their painting skills.
• Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled 8-week sessions.
• Effectively communicate with class participants and motivate them to reach their personal art goals.
• Serve as a positive representative of MSCR and follow all policies and procedures in the Employee Handbook.
• Maintain organized records of attendance and class progress.
