Job summary

Dominion Hospital in Falls Church, VA, seeks a Mental Health Clinical Nurse Coordinator (RN) to oversee patient-centered care on the Adult Unit. This full-time role covers day or night shifts, with rotating weekends.

The CNC coordinates nursing activities, guides staff, ensures safety and regulatory compliance, and partners with physicians to improve outcomes. A BSN is preferred; RN license in VA required with BLS and CPI certifications.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing or RN diploma required.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
• Current RN license in the state of employment or a multistate compact license.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers and Crisis Prevention Institute certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and oversees the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
• Provides clinical leadership, guidance, and support to nursing staff while ensuring appropriate patient care assignments and adherence to policies.
• Promotes patient safety, quality outcomes, and regulatory compliance through evidence-based practices and quality improvement initiatives.
• Assists with patient admission, discharge, and care coordination to support throughput and outcomes.
• Monitors unit operations, equipment maintenance, and compliance with accreditation and standards.
• Supports customer service initiatives and patient-first culture; mentors staff; participates in recruitment and onboarding.
• Collaborates with physicians and leadership to promote teamwork and organizational goals.
• Assists with staffing, scheduling, and resource utilization to support department operations.
• Represents the organization professionally within the community.

Make a Difference in the Mental Health!Dominion Hospital, the only freestanding mental health facility in Northern VA, is seeking an experienced Mental Health Clinical Nurse Coordinator - RN to ensure and deliver high-quality, patient- centered care and coordination of all functions in the unit/department during the designated shift.The Mental Health Clinical Nurse Coordinator - RN works in collaboration with other members of the management team, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures, serves as a resource person for staff, and models a commitment to the organization's vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

What You'll Do

• Monitors unit operations, equipment maintenance, and compliance with accreditation, regulatory, and organizational standards.


• Fosters a positive patient and employee experience by supporting customer service initiatives, service recovery efforts, and a patient-first culture.


• Coaches, mentors, and develops staff through training, performance feedback, conflict resolution, and support of employee engagement initiatives.


• Participates in recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, performance management, and disciplinary processes to support workforce effectiveness.


• Collaborates with physicians, leadership, and subject matter experts to promote teamwork, operational excellence, and organizational goals.


• Assists with staffing, scheduling, labor management, inventory control, and resource utilization to support efficient department operations.


• Represents the organization professionally within the community and participates in organizational and patient-focused events and intitiatives


• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma-Required. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing-Preferred


• Licensure: Current, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment or a multistate compact license, as applicable.


• Certifications: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required and Crisis Prevention Institute required as a part of the general hospital orientation.


• Experience: 1+ years of applicable experience-Required
