Qualifications

  • Level I requires a bachelor’s degree in any field.
  • Level II requires a master’s degree OR a bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience in professional social work.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of incapacitated adults.
  • Determine capacity and provide voluntary or involuntary services based on needs.
  • Coordinate service plans, prepare legal forms, attend court hearings, and provide testimony as necessary.
  • Level I: perform entry-level APS work in training, participate in investigations with higher-level specialists, prepare legal forms for APS hearings, and conduct independent investigations of routine referrals.
  • Level II: receive intakes, complete investigations with proper documentation, initiate court proceedings for involuntary protective services, and involve family and caregivers in service plans.
