Job summary

Penn Hills Library in Allegheny County is seeking an engaging leader to mentor staff, design and implement creative adult and family programs, and curate inclusive, high-quality collections. The role emphasizes building relationships with the community and sharing innovative ideas to enrich lives.

The position requires strong knowledge of current library practices, excellent communication, and the ability to lead meetings and teams.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of current library practices and future trends in reference service.
• Ability to lead effective meetings and facilitate discussions.
• Skilled in organizing, prioritizing, delegating, and delivering services.
• Able to be a productive, positive team member.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to build relationships with staff, patrons, and the public.
• Contributes to a positive work culture fostering public service.
• Master’s in Library Science preferred; experience in public libraries considered.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain equitable library policies and procedures.
• Coach staff to ensure outstanding service.
• Engage with community and build strong communication lines.
• Provide reader’s advisory, genealogy, and reference assistance.
• Promote services through displays and marketing.
• Develop and implement innovative programs and outreach for adults.
• Work evenings and weekends for events.
