Job summary

The Adult Discipleship Minister at First Christian Church will partner with the elders and ministry staff to lead the congregation in pursuing its mission of Reaching the Lost, Teaching the Saved, and Repeating the Process, while upholding core values of Biblical authority, loving all people, faithful service, and unceasing prayer.

Qualifications

• Personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and clear calling into ministry.
• Ability to communicate God's Word through preaching and teaching.
• Passion for pastoral care and shepherding the church family.
• Ability to work in harmony with others.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Five years of ministry experience preferred.
• BA/BS degree from an accredited Bible or Christian college preferred.
• Must meet Biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership (1 Timothy 3:1-10).

Responsibilities

• Preaching as part of the preaching team, approximately 26-30 weeks per year.
• Teach adult Bible studies and baptism/covenant classes; mentor church members.
• Mentor new believers and recruit/train mature volunteers to mentor others.
• Collaborate with the worship minister to provide biblically grounded worship experiences.
• Develop and coordinate adult discipleship and small groups with the Education Ministry Team.
• Coordinate outreach programs and evangelism efforts for community impact.
• Lead and organize short-term mission trips with the Mission Ministry Team.
• Provide pastoral care through home, hospital, and nursing home visits.
• Be available for funerals and weddings; offer counseling within training scope.
