Job summary

City of Durango Parks and Recreation seeks an Adult Basketball Scorekeeper to manage official score and game time for adult league games. You will record points, fouls, timeouts, and other details, and ensure accuracy of the score sheet.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basketball or athletic scoring preferred.
  • Ability to read and record information accurately.
  • CPR, first aid, and AED certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Keep official score and game time for adult basketball league games.

  • Arrive 30 minutes before games and assist with setup.
  • Stay focused during games and communicate information to the site supervisor.
  • Assist with addressing unruly players, coaches, or spectators and with incident reports.

  • Perform related duties as required.

Be part of the action as an Adult Basketball Scorekeeper with City of Durango Parks and Recreation. You’ll keep the official score and game time, track important game information, and help keep adult league games running smoothly. This position is a great fit for someone who can stay focused in a fast‑paced environment, pay close attention to details, and communicate clearly with players, coaches, spectators, and Parks and Recreation staff.

What You’ll Do in This Role:
  • Keep the official score and game time for adult basketball league games using a manual or electronic scoreboard
  • Accurately record game information, including points, fouls, timeouts, and other details on the official score sheet
  • Arrive at least 30 minutes before assigned games and assist with setting up equipment
  • Stay focused throughout each game and communicate game information as needed to the site supervisor
  • Assist the site supervisor with addressing unruly players, coaches, or spectators
  • Assist with completing incident or accident reports when needed
  • Help clean up after games, return equipment, dispose of trash, and bring lost items to the appropriate location
  • Complete and submit timesheets in a timely manner
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required
You Have:
  • Knowledge of basketball or general knowledge of athletic scoring is preferred
  • Experience as a scorekeeper or working with the public is preferred
  • Ability to read and record information accurately
  • Ability to obtain CPR, first aid, and automated external defibrillator (AED) certification

  • Communicate clearly and work effectively with players, coaches, spectators, and Parks and Recreation staff
