UMAS is a Not-For-Profit organization that serves immigrant populations from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Middle East, Latin America and Europe.
UMAS is a small, family‑run organization that requires employees to wear multiple hats and work autonomously.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist Activity Coordinator in implementing activity program. This could include conducting physical activities (exercises, ball-toss, chair basketball, etc.), mental stimulation activities (spelling bees, bingo, playing boards, etc.)
- Engage in both group and one-to-one activities as assigned.
- Assist with set up and take down of activity supplies or equipment.
- Assist in preparation, serving and clean‑up at lunch and snack times.
- Provide routine and specialized assistance to participants as needed, including assisting in the bathroom, with lunch, snacks and with dressing.
- Observe and report any changes in participant's behavior or physical condition.
- Other related duties as appropriate or assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Bachelor degree in human services, social work, gerontology, activity therapy, recreation, physical therapy, art therapy or related field preferred. Associate Degree acceptable.
- Experience: Pervious experience working with older adults or in an adult day care environment preferred.
- Physical exam (no more than 6 months prior to employment)
- CPR/First Aid certification or willing to be become certified
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills, including oral, written and presentation
- Self‑motivated, creative, flexible and results driven
- Ability to be a productive team member/player
Additional qualifications
- Being fluent in Hindi/Urdu or Guajarati preferred
