Overview
Elderwood is seeking a clinical leader for the important role of Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON - RN).
The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills and an ability to foster teamwork.
Assistant Director of Nursing (RN) Position Overview:
- The ADON (RN) leads, supports, and ensures the health and well-being of our residents by assisting the DON with staffing, staff training, development, and management of personnel in the Nursing department.
- The ADON (RN) assesses residents, performs audits, and follows regulations and best practices within his/her scope of practice.
- This individual also serves as Infection Control Preventionist.
- Assists the DON in directing and developing nursing activities and staff, ensuring the delivery of quality nursing services.
- Develops, implements, and communicates nursing policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Communicates policies to staff and monitors adherence.
- Requires RN license.
Responsibilities
- Assume duties of the Director of Nursing in their absence.
- Assist in planning nursing services for resident discharge plans.
- Manage personnel within the nursing department, including hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation.
- Ensure adequate 24-hour nursing coverage.
- Ensure all nursing assistants are enrolled in or have completed approved training programs.
- Assist in determining staffing needs and resolving personnel issues.
- Develop work assignments and schedules.
- Supervise admissions, monitor resident progress, and coordinate therapeutic services.
- Perform daily rounds and ensure a safe, clean environment.
- Monitor medication administration and treatments.
- Provide direct nursing care as needed.
Qualifications
- Degree in Nursing from an accredited school.
- Current, active RN license.
- Baccalaureate degree preferred.
- Knowledge of geriatric care, management principles, and communication systems.
- Physical exam indicating no communicable diseases.
- Good physical and mental health.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license if driving is required.
- Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in healthcare facility.
- Previous long-term care experience preferred.
- Computer skills preferred.
- Proficiency in English communication.
