Job summary

Opiny is seeking a Substance Use Counselor in Brentwood, NY (Full-time). The role involves delivering long-term supervision, support and clinical services to adolescents with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders within an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include screening residents, leading group counseling, supervising self-medication under supervision, and crisis intervention with proper documentation.

Qualifications

• CASAC-T; CASAC, or higher preferred.
• 1 year of experience with clients with substance abuse disorders.
• 1 year of experience working with adolescents with co-occurring and mental health problems.

Responsibilities

• Initial and ongoing screening of residents and property per unit procedure.
• Facilitate group counseling in a professional, ethical and caring manner; document client progress.
• Supervise clients in self-medication under supervision.
• Communicate all pertinent information, incidents and emergencies using the SAC log and reports.
• Provide crisis interventions and follow-up including incident reports.
• Oversee daily house schedule and supervision of the client population.
• Other duties as assigned.
