Overview

Location: Pembroke Pines, FL. Position responsibilities include planning and coordinating clinical Substance Abuse/Mental Health services for the adolescent population, conducting admissions and assessments, and providing individual and family therapy. This role provides direct supervision to program staff and supports clinical operations under supervision of the Program Director.

Responsibilities

• Conduct admissions and biopsychosocial assessments using the standardized Biopsychosocial assessment designated by the Managing Entity (ME).
• Prepare and review Interpretive Summaries based on assessment information.
• Develop Wellness and Recovery Plans in collaboration with the consumer.
• Conduct monthly Wellness and Recovery Plan Reviews with the consumer.
• Document all clinical services and activities in accord with licensing, Medicaid, Joint Commission standards, and agency policy and procedure.
• Administer verbal reprimands and learning experiences to consumers according to agency policies and procedures.
• Participate in the discharge planning process for the consumer and family; prepare Discharge Summaries as needed.
• Write monthly Progress Reports for courts, probation departments, Department of Corrections, and employers as necessary.
• Consult with Program Coordinator and Clinical Coordinator before the termination of a consumer from treatment.
• Provide referral and linkage for ancillary services for the consumer and family, as needed.
• Provide in-home/on-site individual and group therapy, as needed; deliver therapy to additional populations as needed.
• Facilitate case conferences and provide specialized staff development and training.
• Ensure staff receives appropriate supervision and required training on evidence-based models and the agency’s clinical data system.
• Assign primary therapist with all intakes for consumers participating in the program.
• Provide direct clinical and treatment supervision in coordination with the Clinical Director.
• Arrange staff development and training in coordination with the Program Director.
• Assist in the daily operations of the program and provide specialized leadership under the supervision of the Program Director.
• Generate monthly staff production reports; monitor intake process for referrals from outside agencies.
• Maintain relationships with referring and supporting agencies and represent the agency at community meetings as requested.
• Provide administrative leadership and supervision for Adolescent/Adult outpatient services.
• Plan discharges/transfers to ensure appropriateness and continuity of care for transfers and discharges.
• Understand HIPAA, professional ethics, consumer rights and confidentiality.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and align with WestCare Foundation’s mission, vision, principles, clinical vision, and goals.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Certifications/Licensures

• Certification as a CAP or MCAP, in good standing by an agency approved and recognized by the Florida Certification Board is preferred at time of hire; preference given to currently certified candidates.
• Licensure as an LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT in good standing by an agency approved and recognized by the state of Florida is required at time of hire.

Education

• Graduation from an accredited master's program with a degree in Addiction Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology or related field is required.

Experience and Competencies

• Two years of previously supervised work experience in providing individual/family therapy is preferred.
• Bilingual is preferred.
• Must have reliable means of transportation.
• Must have familiarity with Miami-Dade County.
• Maintains confidential files and records; ability to determine eligibility of a consumer’s admission.
• Ability to use DSM-IV/5 diagnostic criteria to provide substance use, mental health, and behavioral diagnoses.
• Ability to identify and evaluate strengths, barriers, problems, and needs for Wellness and Recovery Planning.
• Ability to evaluate the impact of substance use and mental health problems on functioning in major life areas.
• Knowledge of the inter-relationship among substance use, mental health, and primary care disorders.
• Ability to conceptualize cases within a developmental framework for treatment planning, intervention, and discharge planning.
• Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, CCISC, and Trauma-Informed Care.
• Proficiency in administering and interpreting assessments.
• Ability to develop Wellness and Recovery Plans with measurable goals and collaborate with consumer and family.
• Ability to counsel individuals and families toward objectives; explore problems, attitudes, and solutions; support decision making.
• Ability to coordinate and integrate multiple services and communicate with internal and external providers.
• Ability to apply trauma-informed care principles, ensure safety, and minimize re-traumatization.
• Identify crises, mitigate immediate problems, and develop Safety Plans as needed.
• Provide information to individuals and families about alcohol/drug use, mental health problems, and available resources.
• Ability to write assessments, Wellness and Recovery Plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other consumer-related data.
• Knowledge of developmental theories and developmental psychopathology; understanding family dynamics and structure.
• Understanding of confidentiality rules, professional ethics, consumer rights, and professional responsibilities.
• Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse staff and populations; knowledge of WestCare Mission and values.
