Job summary

Willamette Valley Cancer Institute is seeking an Admixture Technician to support preparation, maintenance, and delivery of medications for patients in a combined retail and admixture setting in Springfield, Oregon.

Ideal candidates have pharmacy experience and a Pharmacy Tech Certificate; duties include compounding, verifying orders, DOSAGE calculations, and inventory control in a fast-paced oncology environment.

Qualifications

• High School or Equivalent.
• 1–3 years of experience in a pharmacy.
• Pharmacy Tech Certificate Required.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing medications.
• Checks all orders for completeness of information; verifies patient information and physician authorization.
• Ad mixes drugs as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner per guidelines; prepares all drugs within OSHA guidelines.
• Calculates correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
• Maintains logs and inventories; disposes materials properly; cleans hoods and checks drug dating.

Overview

Willamette Valley Cancer Institute is looking for an Admixture Technician to join their phenomenal team. The pharmaceutical treatment of cancer is specialized and ever-changing field. The team at WVCI is looking for a tech to help prepare, maintain, and deliver medications for our amazing patients. Our department has both retail and admixture departments that support our patients’ treatment journey. This also would allow technicians with strong retail experience to build on their skills, and work towards higher levels of the technician scope.

The general pay scale for this position at WVCI is $19.00 - $46.80. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, internal equity etc.

Admixture Technician

Responsibilities

• Assists with the preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing medications.
• Checks all orders for completeness of information. Verifies patient information and proper physician authorization.
• Admixes drugs as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner as per department guidelines and preparing all drugs within OSHA guidelines and interoffice guidelines.
• Calculates correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
• Properly disposes all materials used when mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs. Assists in cleaning hoods daily checking drugs monthly for outdates and other quality assurance activities as assigned.
• Assists in keeping accurate temperature logs, accurate logs on all protocol drugs and patient assistance drugs.
• Maintains proper control documentation of medications including lot numbers. Provide support with inventory control of medications. Prepares labels. Files and prepares billing. Basic data entry into department automation.
• Other duties as assigned
