Responsibilities

Sierra Medical Center, part of Northern Nevada Health System, is a 170-bed acute care hospital offering 24/7 ER care, cardiology, oncology, labor and delivery, level II NICU, surgical and orthopedic services, and more.

Job Description: Handle the efficient and orderly admission of inpatients, outpatients and emergency department admissions. Ensure patient information is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures. Interview incoming patient or representatives and enter required admission information into the computer database. Distribute appropriate information to ancillary departments. Participate in performance improvement and CQI activities.

  • Responsible for obtaining all pertinent information including demographic and insurance information.
  • Ensure all admission forms are complete and accurate, spelling correct; apply patient labels to all necessary forms.
  • Provide information to the patient/representative about billing, complaint process, patient rights, HIPAA, and visiting hours.
  • If prior arrangements have been made or a co-payment is required, collect payment, record and forward to the business office personnel.
