Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum one year clerical experience and medical terminology knowledge.
  • Minimum one year of medical front office experience, preferably in acute healthcare.
  • Basic keyboarding skills for data input.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Some college coursework in health administration or related field preferred.
  • Cash handling experience and financial counseling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Registration, Scheduling, Verification of insurance.
  • Collection of patient payments and supporting the patient experience.
  • Communication with internal departments and clinical teams.
  • Responds to inquiries and issues; can troubleshoot independently.
  • Supports ARU discharge processes in Acute Rehab settings as applicable.
  • Provides guidance to new staff and assists leadership with department projects.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Representative III is responsible for following Federal, State and Local guidelines and works directly with patients and clinical teams for delivery of services to include but not limited to: Registration, Scheduling, Verification of insurance, Collection of patient payments, The patient experience, Communicating with internal departments.

The Representative III is proficient in the application and systems that may include but not limited to: Affinity, Passport, Chartmaxx, EPIC, Other supporting information systems.

The Representative III will have extensive knowledge in all roles of registration for the area they support. Responds appropriately to inquiries and complaints. Can troubleshoot and problem solve independently as situations occur. Ensures Front Office equipment functions properly, placing services calls when required.

Provides feedback to leadership regarding opportunities and goals for the department. Volunteers and assists leadership in special projects. Acts as a resource and provides guidance to new employees, offering assistance and direction to less experienced team members.

Acute Rehab Department Only: Supports LCSW and Admissions Liaison with ARU admission and discharge processes. Works with vendors on equipment orders. Sets appointments for post ARU discharge patients.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one (1) year clerical experience, medical terminology, including filing, computer skills and basic telephone skills required.
  • Minimum one (1) years medical front office experience, preferably within an acute healthcare system environment required.
  • High level of computer keyboarding skills for data input required.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel required.
  • HOI Quality Management area only: Some college coursework completed or minimum of 6 months prior experience in Patient Access, health administration or related field preferred.
  • Cash handling experience and Financial counseling experience preferred.
