The Office of Undergraduate Admissions seeks enthusiastic candidates who are interested in connecting students to experiences and higher education opportunities at the University of Arizona to apply for the position of Admissions Transfer Counselor. This role is responsible for engaging directly with prospective students and families, with a focus on prospective transfer students. The Admissions Transfer Counselor position fosters relationships with community college, high school, counselors, administrators and advisers, community-based organizations, and other faculty and staff. This role supports prospective students and supporters through admissions processes, educational planning, paying for college, and enrollment services, and has a primary office space on a Maricopa Community College campus.
Through interpreting academic, student services, and admissions policies and requirements, the Admissions Transfer Counselor is an effective communicator and creative problem solver, initiating proactive outreach efforts to prospective and incoming Wildcats. With the unique opportunity to manage a recruitment territory, this position is responsible for the administrative functions related to their role and proper expenditure of budget resources for recruitment activities, programs, and travel.
This position will allow for flexible/hybrid work arrangements. Some duties can be performed remotely, but others will require an in-person presence on the Maricopa Community College campus.

Work independently and proactively to create and track an individualized recruitment, travel and strategic plan based on targeted enrollment goals for assigned territories. Tracks progress towards goals and determines interventions and supports accordingly. Meets students where they are, traveling via personal, rental, assigned, or university vehicle to recruitment locations, requiring flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed.
Manages recruitment territory, with a focus on Phoenix and Northern Arizona community colleges and transfer students. This role forms recruitment plans and activities that resonate with the students and supporters in those regions and throughout Arizona as directed in order to meet desired goals. Coordinates with representatives of the Maricopa Community Colleges as appropriate. Represents the University of Arizona, the Arizona Recruitment team, and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions recruitment efforts to a wide array of constituents. Develops proactive initiatives to recruit and yield students to Arizona. Deploys active communication with supervisors and team regarding activities, territories, and needs. Presents complex information to audiences that vary in size and scope, using provided and developed presentations.
As a liaison and primary contact for the office and institution, actively and independently leads engagement with prospective students, counselors, parents and other constituents regarding the admission and enrollment process, procedures and related academic information. Supports directives and initiatives for the Arizona Recruitment team and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions recruitment efforts. This role involves a high level of SMS text, email, phone correspondence with active engagement and timely follow up required. Accurately records engagement, interactions, and work, successfully navigating multiple university systems of record and client relation management systems. Engages in a high level of customer service and student support, seeking out proactive opportunities to support students and their recruitment territory through the enrollment journey.
Within assigned recruitment territory, develops and maintains positive relationships with educational institutions and their counseling and student support contacts. Serves as a resource specialist for communication of complex and sensitive information with respect to application, scholarship/financial aid, residency determination, academic advising/academic requirements, and admission to the University. Advises students interpreting pathways to Arizona regarding academics, funding, admission and opportunities, and utilizes excellent presentation, communication and storytelling abilities. Fosters relationships with communities, schools, students, and stakeholders, and proactively seeks to understand the needs of the community in order to meet recruitment goals. Creates and utilizes materials such as fliers, power points, and other resources to meet their territory needs and assist students in their path to Arizona Investigates student issues, helps find solutions, and brings attention to supervisor as needed. Seeks to build sustainable and impactful relationships with area community colleges, and transfer student-serving organizations, and constituents.
Researches, designs and implements strategic recruitment activities in collaboration with supervisor and other Enrollment Management leadership. Researches, develops, and enhances initiatives to promote the University to prospective transfer students, families, and their communities. Administers and assists in the coordination of assigned recruitment programs, projects, activities and events to cultivate and recruit prospective students. Utilizes analytical tools and research skills to seek new opportunities and interventions in recruitment and enrollment work. Stays on top of broader higher education and admissions profession topics.
