Job Summary
College Admissions Counselors are an essential element of the university administrative team. Recruiters build student prospects and new markets by locating, establishing, and supporting recruiting strategies and activities that enhance enrollments.
Responsibilities
- Discover and cultivate prospective student and new market leads.
- Recruit prospective students and provide essential information related to admissions requirements and enrollment processes.
- Make vital information available to the community through visits and presentations.
- Collaborate with university deans, faculty, staff, alumni, and current students to attract new students.
- Promote awareness and support of a culture of higher education through outreach.
- Assist and support university initiatives related to recognition and growth.
- Assist Enrollment Coordinator with arranging and coordinating faculty and staff visits with community college counselors or other event coordinators.
- Strategize on opportunities to enhance military recruitment efforts in both NC and SC territories.
- Recruit active military, veteran, and dependent students for undergraduate and graduate programs; develop, update, and maintain outside recruitment contacts.
- Represent the university at community and outside organization functions including career days, special events on post, and conferences; meet with military leaders and veterans organizations to exchange information and answer questions; prepare and deliver presentations regarding programs and services.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- One year of recruiting and/or sales experience.
- Reliable transportation and current, valid driver’s license.
- Proven track record of exceeding goals.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with ability to establish rapport with a diverse customer base.
- Excellent organizational skills and acute attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- Higher education experience.
Driving Requirement
Driving may be necessary but is not a primary responsibility.
Work Hours
- Standard work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.
- Must be willing to market and recruit in evenings and on weekends.
- Frequent travel required, including occasional overnight stays.
Physical Requirements
Typical office environment; frequently lifting and carrying items up to 20 lbs.; frequently sitting at a desk or workstation using a computer display, keyboard, and mouse.
