Organizational Overview

Academic Affairs (“AA”) is headed by the Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, responsible for academic policies. AA includes colleges, schools, libraries, and support units aimed at fostering academic excellence and student success.

The Undergraduate Admissions Office manages first-year, transfer, and non-traditional student admissions, focusing on recruiting academically capable applicants and guiding them through the application process.

Job Duties

The Admissions Counselor supports transfer student recruitment, reporting to the Associate Director for Transfer Recruitment. Responsibilities include developing recruitment plans, presenting at events, advising students, and managing communication strategies. The role involves application evaluation, participation in recruitment activities, and ongoing professional development.

Specific duties include:

  1. Transfer Territory Management: Establish contacts with community colleges, collaborate on student events, maintain communication, and utilize virtual/in-person recruitment strategies.
  2. Recruitment Team Support: Support prospective students via calls/emails, represent the university at events, assist with projects, and perform other duties as assigned.
  3. Continuous Training and Learning: Attend training sessions, support new staff, and pursue professional development opportunities.

This position is contingent upon available funding.

Minimum Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Must have or obtain a valid driver’s license within 30 days of hire and maintain it as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

One year of experience in college admissions recruiting, especially with transfer students. Knowledge of ECU and other institutions’ catalogs, transfer course equivalencies, and educational directories is preferred.
