Guidehouse is seeking an Admissions Coordinator in Clanton, AL to manage inpatient and outpatient admissions. You will register patients, explain hospital regulations, and liaise with patients, families, visitors, and hospital staff.

Schedule is full-time days, Sunday to Tuesday, 5:30am–6pm, in Clanton, AL; schedule may change with census and needs. The role entails collecting demographics, financial info, obtaining consents, pre-certifications, and handling insurance issues.

• High School Diploma or GED or 2+ years of relevant experience in healthcare, medical office, or customer service.

Responsibilities

• Obtain complete and accurate demographic and financial information from patients and sources.
• Obtain signatures on legal consents and insurance forms.
• Perform pre-certification, credit referral or deposit collection.
• Enter data in computer and document admissions accurately.
• Notify patients and families of insurance coverage issues and deposits.
• Review physician orders for completeness and accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with Medicare and ABN requirements.
• Utilize multiple computer systems and maintain customer service.

What You Will Do:

The Admissions Coordinator is responsible for managing inpatient and outpatient admissions. Registers incoming patients, enters information on admitting forms, explains hospital regulations, and may assign patients to rooms based on the nature of the illness and the type of accommodations available. May prepare identification bracelets and assist in insurance matters. Serves as a liaison between patients, their families, visitors, and the hospital (administration, management, hospital staff, medical staff, etc.)

Type: Full Time - Days Schedule: Full Time: Sun-Tuesday 5:30am-6pm (Approx. 36 Hour Work Week) Location: Clanton, AL Please Note: This schedule is subject to change based on hospital census and business needs.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Responsible for obtaining complete and accurate demographic and financial information from a variety of sources, including patient interviews physician offices and in-house departments.
• Obtains required signatures on legal consents and insurance forms.
• Performs required pre-certification, credit referral or deposit collection.
• Enters data in computer and thoroughly documents any incomplete admissions/registrations in manner prescribed.
• Obtains pre-certification, referral or authorization number and updates patient's file.
• Notifies patients, family members, physicians and/or supervisors of insurance coverage issues, notifies patients of co-payments, deductibles or deposits needed, documenting all information in computer system.
• Reviews Physician's orders for completion and ensures all required information is listed.
• Completes Medicare Compliance and obtains ABN if necessary.
• Knowledge of all Federal, State and Local Laws pertaining to insurance rules and regulations.
• Utilizes multiple computer systems.
• Maintains positive customer service at all times, referring unresolved issues to appropriate supervisor.
• Answers telephone calls.
• Follows pre-established script and provide assistance to callers.
• Completes all shift duties in a timely and accurate manner.
• Complies with all safety regulations, policies and procedures as defined by client.

What You Will Need:

High School Diploma or GED or 2+ years of relevant experience in lieu of the education 0-2 years of prior relevant experience in healthcare, medical office, or customer service

What Would Be Nice to Have:

• Ability to type a minimum of 35 WPM.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• 1 year of experience with Patient Registration.
• 1 year of experience working with medical insurances.
