Longterm Healthcare - Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA)
Position Summary

The Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) is responsible for the overall leadership, operations, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and quality of care of the skilled nursing facility. This role provides strategic and operational direction to ensure residents receive high-quality, compassionate care in a safe, compliant, and respectful environment.

The LNHA leads the interdisciplinary team, develops and implements operational strategies, maintains compliance with federal and state regulations, and works closely with residents, families, employees, physicians, vendors, and community partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership and day-to-day operational management of the nursing facility.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS, state Department of Public Health, and applicable licensing requirements.

  • Maintain a strong culture of resident-centered care, safety, dignity, and quality.

  • Lead and support department directors, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams.

  • Monitor clinical, operational, staffing, and quality metrics and implement corrective action when needed.

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of facility policies and procedures.

  • Prepare for and successfully manage regulatory surveys, audits, inspections, and complaint investigations.

  • Develop and monitor the facility's annual operating budget, census goals, labor costs, and financial performance.

  • Partner with the Director of Nursing and clinical leadership to promote quality outcomes and regulatory compliance.

  • Monitor staffing levels, recruitment, retention, employee engagement, and workforce performance.

  • Address resident and family concerns promptly and professionally.

  • Build positive relationships with residents, families, physicians, hospitals, vendors, and community organizations.

  • Oversee facility performance improvement initiatives and Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities.

  • Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and maintenance of required records.

  • Identify operational risks and develop strategies to improve efficiency, quality, and resident satisfaction.

  • Participate in admissions, census development, marketing, and referral relationship initiatives as appropriate.

  • Promote employee accountability, professional development, teamwork, and a positive workplace culture.

  • Ensure the physical environment is safe, clean, secure, and appropriately maintained.

  • Investigate incidents, complaints, and deficiencies and implement appropriate follow-up.

  • Communicate organizational goals and expectations effectively to employees and leadership.

  • Perform other duties necessary to support the successful operation of the facility.

Qualifications
  • Current and unrestricted Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) license in the applicable state.

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, nursing, or a related field preferred.

  • Previous leadership experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, post-acute care, or a related healthcare environment.

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state nursing facility regulations and survey processes.

  • Demonstrated experience managing staff, budgets, quality initiatives, and facility operations.

  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with residents, families, employees, physicians, and regulatory agencies.

  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and standard business/administrative software.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience leading a skilled nursing or long-term care facility.

  • Experience with CMS/state surveys and plans of correction.

  • Knowledge of QAPI, quality measures, and regulatory compliance.

  • Experience with census growth, hospital relationships, and referral development.

  • Experience with budget management, labor optimization, and financial reporting.

  • Proven ability to improve clinical, operational, and resident satisfaction outcomes.
