The University of Miami Health System is seeking an Administrator in Charge, Nursing (AIC) to oversee daily nursing operations, ensure high-quality patient care, and optimize resource use within the unit.

As a registered nurse with Florida licensure and at least two years of relevant experience, you will lead clinical staff, collaborate with medical leadership, and drive quality and patient safety initiatives across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required.
• Valid State of Florida RN license required.
• Ability to learn new procedures, adapt to changing priorities and work demands.

**CORE JOB SUMMARY** The Administrator in Charge, Nursing (AIC) role serves as a pivotal solution to meet the evolving demands of healthcare by bridging operational gaps and enhancing nursing leadership. The (AIC) is a registered professional nurse who oversees the daily operations of the facility, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, and efficient management of resources and compliance with healthcare regulations. This role involves human resource management, continuous quality improvement, and fosters a collaborative environment across clinical and non-clinical departments. The AIC collaborates closely with medical staff, nursing staff, and other key hospital departments to ensure the delivery of patient care through a strong focus on Quality, Patient Safety, Efficiency and Patient Experience. **CORE JOB FUNCTIONS** 1. Provides clinical support for staff and serves a Subject Matter Expert. 2. Supports hospital operations and collaborates with senior leadership. 3. Coordinates emergency teams (after hours/weekends/holidays) and assist with Command Center setup. 8. Manages clinical and non-clinical emergencies, including notifications to leadership and external agencies (e.g., medical examiner, law enforcement). 9. Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations (CMS, Joint Commission) and standards of practice (Tracer methodology). 10. Supports policies, procedures, and emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency and patient outcomes. 11. Develops and implements quality initiatives/programs focused on patient safety and satisfaction. 12. Addresses and resolves patient or family concerns promptly and professionally. 13. Promotes accountability and provides recommendations based on staff performance. 14. Optimizes patient flow and throughput while contributing to high standards of patient care. 15. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
