The Minnesota Department of Public Safety in Blaine, MN is seeking an Administrative Support Staff member to perform office and administrative duties during a day shift (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM), Monday through Friday. This full-time position supports the Homeland Security & Emer Mgmt division and requires solid MS Office skills and strong organizational abilities.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and skill using Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheet, presentation) programs to produce correspondence, spread sheets, and reports in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Skill in word processing sufficient to prepare, edit, and finalize emails, memos, reports, and/or other documents and types of written communication that are grammatically correct, in proper format, and free of spelling errors.
  • Knowledge of communications sufficient to present clear and concise explanations of governing rules and regulations in a manner that is understandable.
  • Database Management skills sufficient to perform data entry, create queries and perform database maintenance.
  • Skill in customer service sufficient to respond effectively to clients, coworkers, and customers who have questions about agency operations and procedures (in person, in writing, on the phone, and through presentations and other electronic correspondence).
  • Skill in typing/keyboarding, using Microsoft Word or equivalent software, sufficient to produce documents such as emails and other correspondence in an efficient and timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and moving and transporting light objects frequently. Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
