BASIC FUNCTION:


The Administrative Claims Assistant will relieve the workload of the Manager, Insurance and Risk Services by performing responsible administrative and staff duties.

VACANCY / POSITION SPECIFICS:



  • Working Location: Risk Management. 6735 Gifford Way San Diego, CA 92111-Revere Center, Room 7.

  • The District covers a large portion of San Diego County. Refer to the District Area Map at this Link and make sure to identify any and all specific area(s) you are interested in working in.   • Department Website: Risk Management

  • Work Schedule: 12 months per year / 40 hours per week.

  • Positions 20 hours per week or greater qualify for District-paid health and wellness benefits for the employee and their eligible dependents.

  • Vacancies that require the incumbent to be Bilingual will be noted. Candidates considered for positions that require bilingual skills will be invited to a Performance Test (Qualifying Only) for oral and written fluency. Bilingual positions qualify for a 5% bilingual differential.


This is a PROMOTIONAL/OPEN opportunity, which means that current monthly salaried employees receive precedence over other candidates on the eligible list. For a promotional/open posting, the top ten internal candidates will be provided unless there is an insufficient number of internal candidates and then the list will be supplemented with the top external candidates to make up the list of ten (Employment Regulations for the Classified Service of the San Diego Unified School District: Article IV, Section 9).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to graduation from a recognized four-year college or university with a degree in business or public administration and one year of recent related experience. Prior work experience in an insurance company, public agency or other related insurance industry setting is desirable but not required.

Examination Process


The examination process includes an application screening and evaluation based on the applicant's education, work history, and responses to theapplication questions.
