Brooklyn Justice Initiatives (BJI) seeks to reengineer the experience of criminal court in Brooklyn, New York by providing judges and attorneys meaningful alternatives to bail, fines, and jail sentences. Operating out of Kings County Criminal Court as well as community-based offices, Brooklyn Justice Initiatives is a team of social service providers, court-based resource coordinators, and others who seek to improve the quality of justice. By providing meaningful pre-trial supervised release and post-conviction sentencing options, Brooklyn Justice Initiatives seeks to use an arrest as a window of opportunity to change the direction of a participant’s life and avoid the harmful effects of incarceration.
Brooklyn Justice Initiatives is seeking an Administrative Assistant for the borough’s Supervised Release Program (SRP) Brownsville/East New York office. Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, the Administrative Assistant will be responsible for the office’s diverse needs and functions, including greeting and assisting clients, helping to facilitate the referral and eligibility process, and providing administrative and logistical support to all BJI programs.
Position Type: Full-time, weekend and evening hours required as needed for BJI operations.
Position Location: Brooklyn, NYwith regular commute between the Downtown Brooklyn offices and Brownsville/East New York office on a regular basis.
Compensation: The compensation range for this position is $28.57 - $35.11 per hour, annually equivalent to $52,000 - $63,900based on a 35-hour work week and is commensurate with experience.
Note: This position is part of the NOLSW, UAW 2320 bargaining unit.
