Job Description & Requirements
Are you someone who enjoys connecting with people, takes pride in staying organized, and looks for ways to make things better? Do you thrive in an environment where every day brings something different?
Interstate Engineering is looking for an outgoing, motivated, and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to join our Mandan office.
We're looking for more than someone who can manage a calendar or answer the phone. We want someone who takes initiative, builds relationships, brings positive energy to the workplace, and sees opportunities to contribute without waiting to be asked.
As an employee-owned company focused on growth, innovation, and serving communities, we value people who are excited to learn, take on new challenges, and grow alongside us.
As an Administrative Assistant, you'll play an important role in keeping our Mandan office running smoothly while supporting employees, clients, and visitors.
Your responsibilities will include:
Be the face of our office. Welcome visitors, answer calls, and create a friendly, professional first impression for everyone who walks through our doors.
Keep things moving. Coordinate schedules, organize meetings, manage correspondence, and help employees stay organized and productive.
Support our teams. Work alongside engineers, surveyors, planners, and other professionals to assist with documents, reports, contracts, and project-related administrative tasks.
Take ownership. Anticipate needs, identify opportunities for improvement, and take initiative to help the office operate more efficiently.
Bring people together. Help coordinate office activities, company events, meetings, and new employee onboarding.
Stay on top of the details. Maintain records, process invoices and expenses, assist with document management, and support day-to-day office operations.
Keep learning. Build new skills, collaborate with employees across our offices, and explore opportunities to grow within the company.
The right person brings more than administrative experience. They bring the attitude, initiative, and willingness to contribute that make a great team even better.
You’ll be a great fit if you:
Are naturally welcoming, approachable, and comfortable starting conversations with others.
Take initiative and look for solutions instead of waiting for direction.
Enjoy helping others and take pride in being someone your teammates can count on.
Can juggle multiple priorities, stay organized, and follow through on commitments.
Communicate confidently and professionally, both in person and in writing.
Are adaptable, open to feedback, and excited to learn new things.
Have a growth mindset and see challenges as opportunities to improve.
Enjoy working collaboratively but are also comfortable managing responsibilities independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
3-5 years of administrative or office support experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
An associate's degree in Business Administration or a related field is a plus.
At Interstate Engineering, we're more than a team of engineers, surveyors, planners, and technical professionals. We're employee-owners working together to deliver quality solutions that help communities thrive.
We believe great ideas can come from anyone, and every role contributes to our success. We value people who are dependable, willing to help, eager to learn, and ready to make a difference.
As our company continues to evolve, we want employees who are excited to grow with us, both personally and professionally.
This is an on-site position in our Mandan office. Being present, building relationships, and providing a welcoming experience for employees and visitors are essential parts of this role.
If you're the kind of person who sees something that needs to be done and takes action, enjoys being part of a team, and wants a position where your contributions matter, we'd love to meet you.
